   Texas Amends State Health Code for Pools, Spas & Public Interactive Water Fountains

 The Texas Legislature in its 2021 regular session approved revisions to the Texas State Health Code for   swimming pools, spas & PIWF's while adding revisions to the "Public Interactive Water Fountains, Spray Pads &   Spray Parks" code. 

 Revised signage for swimming pools, spas, public interactive water fountains spray parks & spray pads.

 All of the new signage and some Health Code for swimming pools and spas will be covered in all "LIVE" CPO   classes presented by Premier Education in 2023. 

 

2020 Required Pool/Spa TEXAS Code

 

      WARNING-NO-LIFEGUARD ON DUTY (4 inches)

         

     "NO DIVING" & international no diving symbol (Where no lifeguard required or provided) (4 inches)

      IN CASE OF EMERGENCY "DIAL 911" (Minimum 1-inch)

      

      Precise location of the pool on or with the Emergency Phone (address or direction

        or GPS location or building number, as appropriate) (Minimum 1-inch)

      Hours of Operation (Minimum 1-inch)

      Direction to & location of Emergency Phone if phone NOT visible in pool yard.

      (Minimum 2-inches)

      Maximum User Load Limit (Minimum 2-inches)

   

      PETS IN THE POOL ARE PROHIBITED (minimum 2-inches)

      "CHANGING DIAPERS WITHIN 6 FEET OF THE POOL IS PROHIBITED"                             (Minimum 2-inches)

      "GLASS ITEMS NOT ALLOWED IN THE POOL YARD" (Minimum 2-inches)

      "PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 14 MUST NOT BE IN THE POOL

      WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION" (Minimum 2-inches)

      "EXTENDED BREATH HOLDING ACTIVITIES ARE DANGEROUS AND

      PROHIBITED" (Minimum 2-inches)

      2020 Required PIWF Signs-Texas Code

Public Interactive Water Fountain

     

      1) PIWF warning and notification signs are required to be posted at the entrance          of all PIWFs or where the signs are clearly visible to users entering the PIWF                before contact with the water occurs.

     

      2) The signs can be combined into a single sign.

     

      3) Signs shall be securely mounted, clearly visible, and easily read with letters in          a contrasting color to the background.

     

      4) The warnings shall be in letters at least 2 inches height.

      5) The required signage:

            a. Non-Service Animals are Prohibited.

            b. Changing Diapers Within 6 Ft. of the water is Prohibited.

            c. Use of the Water Feature ill with a Contagious Disease is Prohibited.

            d. Do NOT Drink Water From the Water Feature.

            e. Use of the Water Feature When ill With Diarrhea is Prohibited.
